Important Dates For Summer 2010

Arrival before May 27 to work Memorial Day Weekend
Departure after September 7 to work Labor Day Weekend
Students should plan to work at least one of these weekends, working both weekends would be ideal.

Employment
The starting wage this year is $7.25/ hour.  On most employment contracts we will guarantee 40 hours/ week , with the average tending to be around 70 hours/week (that's $507/week) and is influenced by work performance and adherance to company rules.  No overtime rates are applicable.  It may seem like a lot of hours but we give over 2 hours of paid breaks over a double shift.  A normal day would start around 10 a.m. and finish at 12 a.m. or later on busy days.  These are easy fun hours, so they go by pretty quickly.

There are many jobs in Seaside Heights, so the possibility of a second job is good if you have the time.  We only require that our work schedule has priority to your second job.

Job Position: Game stand operator.   You will be responsible for one of our various game stands.  Your duties will consist of asking people to play, collecting money, enforcing rules, announcing winners, awarding prizes, and maintaining the stand.  You will communicate with people in English constantly, so it will not only help in your command of English, but also looks great as work experience on your C.V.

 Accommodations

We arrange housing for you before you arrive. Our housing consists of apartments and houses throughout the town within walking distance to work. Each house is different in size and holds different amounts of people.  The housing cost $90/week and requires an $150 deposit.  This is standard housing for Seaside Heights.  Usually 4 people per room and 6 to 8 people per unit.  And we can Accommodate most reasonable request for living situations.

The following is some important information that you may find helpful as you prepare to come to Seaside Heights. All of this information (and more) will be part of a short orientation you will attend after you arrive, so don稚 worry if you don稚 understand everything.

We are just as excited about your arrival as you are. If you have questions or concerns after reading this material, you can email me at playdayrob@yahoo.com or just wait until you get here and ask then. See you soon!

 Seaside Heights

Welcome To Seaside Heights

Seaside Heights is a small resort village located on a barrier beach (between the Barnegat Bay and Atlantic Ocean). In the winter months, the population is approximately 3100 people. During the summer months, our town can have up to 2.5 to 3 million visitors. The town is only almost a mile long and only a 1/3 of a mile wide making everything within walking distance.
Because we are located on the ocean, our weather tends to be cooler and less humid than on the mainland across the bridge. However, the temperatures can range from the low 70痴 (22c) to as high as 90-100 (32-37c) degrees. We enjoy ocean breezes most of the time which keep the weather pleasant. Please bring clothing for warm weather, keeping in mind that nights can be cooler. A sweatshirt or light jacket is recommended.
